Oil Companies are not developing many of the oil fields
they currently lease. Instead, they are hoarding leases
and "sitting" on them. Despite a sharp increase in oil
prices in recent years, the US free market discourages
drilling for oil, yet politicians claim that opening US
coastlines and wildlife refuge to more oil field leases
can reduce dependence on imported oil.

Beginning to properly maintain automobile tire pressure
can bring an immediate 3-4% decrease in the cost of gas,
but because this does not require pumping more oil, it's
dismissed out of hand.

Conservation is bad for the economy, and it doesn't fit
my lifestyle. I'm not going to check my air pressure..
I'm too busy! That would mean checking all four tires
regularly, and I would have to get down on my knees!

No way. Freedom's just another word for my ego, aka "I".
